I’m going to tell you how old-and-in-the-way I am by mentioning that I bought Cousin Brucie’s first Vinyl LP in 1973.As he was back then in the “Stoned age” tooted as “the next bob Dylan” I found he wasn’t that, and considered his music

so disgusting to me that I got rid of it.His image and all just make me sick, though I am sure that many of you like his music. As we say “On spicy or mild, sweet or sour,there can be no arguements”. So much for fire.

What if your shisha tobacco is on fire?

Do you feel as if you are sitting in your bowl of shisha topped with burning coals?

Now we all know that the heat from the coals must sit on the foil or screen covering the shisha and by sucking in air from the hose we cause the shisha to dissapate, flowing down the hookah stem into the water,cooling it and through your hose.

But your tongue and throat are on fire!! Why?

Well, you might have done a few of these wrong approaches.

1) You had a 25 gram bowl and 35 grams shisha left in the pack, so you shoved the whole mother load into the bowl, leaving yourself with no air pockets for the suction to go through the bowl holes. You will habe a burning bowl of shisha on your hands.

Sprinkle the shisha into the bowl,sparate the leaves,take out woody stems, and at most lightly pack it down.

2)A big cause of shisha burn is packing the bowl too high and it touches the foil. Now, the foil with the coal is quite hot.You must leave enough space at the top so there is airspace betweeen the shisha and the foil.

3) You overkilled on your charcoal. Too much heat will of course burn it. If you are using a new brand of coal you have never tried, or a new shisha, know that both have their own idiosyncrasies .Some coals burn hotter but a shorter time, some shisha is very wet, or drier and this could cause burn.

In the end, not only do you burn your coals to no good effect, burn and waste your expensive shisha, but you must mainly be burned at yourself for not being careful.

(I’ve tried so many types and brands of coals, shishas, sizes of shisha bowls, etc, and made all the possible mistakes. From them we learn.
