Etymology: French acclimater, from a- (from Latin ad-) + climat climate
Date: 1792
transitive verb : to adapt to a new temperature, altitude, climate, environment, or situationintransitive verb : to become acclimated
That’s it, basically. Lets say you live in dry, arid arizona,or in a cold dry winter temp. Or a rainy humid climate. Where is your shisha from? Mostly you’ll find from the Arab countries or maybe even San diego,California!
The shisha needs to adapt to your climate, or room temperature.
Some shisha needs more time than others, especially Nakhla and Tangiers. Tangiers is quite hard, you have to play around a lot with that. Some say a PHD. in Tangier preparation MIGHT get you a good smoke! I don’t touch it myself.

I’ve read pros and cons in forums about whether you need to at all.
Well, why not ask an expert? Living in Israel, I went tothe largest store of shisha products in the country run by Arabs in the North Galilee near Acre to the village of Kfar Yassif. Village of Yosef.
They have their own house blends along with hundreds of other packaged shisha. Comming into the store which is open24 hours a day 7 days a week,I was hit by the sweet smell of shisha. There in gigantic pans were men turning the shisha over and stirring. The shisha is left out in air temperature of the store to acclimate. People come in and buy it from the pans to size rather than buy already boxed shisha.
The largest pan by far was filled with Nakhla Double Apple. I guess its a big hit! But again, no boxed shisha for them.
When you recieve your shisha, take it home, open the boxes and spread them out for 4-8 hours, stirring everyhour. It will get acclimated to your room temperature, if not it goes into shock when you smoke it, often will be harsh too.
Again Nakhla needs more time. You won’t dry it out. Why do people let it out for less than 4 hours? No patience! Then put your shisha in an air tight container, its ready to smoke.
