Narguilas for Dummies
Don’t feel silly if you don’t understand how the hookah works or what are their parts. Basically all hookahs have the same components; from this point further you will find different shapes, colors, number of hoses, clay bowls, etc.
If you see this graphic, we can count the different parts of the hookah.
Bowl: Located in the top of the hookah. It’s where you place the shisha o tobacco. There’s no big deal about this part, usually is made of clay or ceramic.
Hose: There’s a not a lot to say about it because is pretty obvious. They come in different lengths and designs, even you can attache to them tips or filters. Also there are disposables.
Purge valve: The purge ….. what? Well, it’s a little valve that comes attached the body of the hookah and allows “to breath” the hookah. Inside of this valve you’ll find a ball bearing. It’s recommendable to change it once in while because it gets corrosion.
Water jar: It’s the base of the hookah. When you place water in it, it “filters” the smoke and gives it the shape. Some people add different liquids to the water like milk, liquor, red bull, etc.
Plate: It’t located on the top under the clay bowl, and what it does is to receive all particle of dust that drop from the burnt charcoal.
Grommets: They are place between the hose and bowl from the body. It helps to seal the smoke. The are made in silicon or plastic.

Now that you have some idea, try to personalize your hookah to your taste and enjoy it.
