  1. Hey, good article, I read it awhile back..A thing i do is melt down 1 Jolly rancher (apple) and I add it to your recipe, it enhances the flavor. I also like to dissolve one in the water at the base.
    Great recipe!

  2. As requested:
“How much ‘preservative do you you use in the mixture’?
You of course mean “glycerine” bought in small bottles at the pharmacy.
Buy a bottle, at home you add up to 25% glycerine at the most. The Middle Eastern countries which manufacturer the shisha you buy add up to 25%. Less if you are smoking immediately. The glycerine is the medium which binds the fruit honey (mu’assel” and your fruit, tobacco together. First as you are using dry tobacco, it must be wet.
Without glycerine, the tobacco will scorch, the fruit bake, and the honey boil and crust hard,it wil stink and taste bad. So glycerine does preserve your mixture, but its more the agent adding moisture which lets the mixture dissapate evenly, ot burn.
Shisha should never burn, but actually the smoke meets the water and vapours emerge from the hose to your throat.
    Nice smoking

  4. can u use any kind of fruit or just apples with this way? if u can use other fruits … how much fruit do u need 2 use?

  5. You can use all kinds of fruit. Pineapple is widely considered to be one of the most rewarding flavros, though i’ve made very successful strawberry and fairly good peach shisha myself. a couple of tips; puree some of your fruit of choice, strain out the juice, and use that juice to marinate the tobacco before hand. I do this by taking my tobacco and mixing the juice in, then putting the mixture into a cup and setting the cup upright in a baggy partially filled with water and sealing it all off. I keep this baggy in a warm place, so the steam from the water evaporating wets the tabacco just the right amount while encouraging the tobacco to absorb the flavors. As for the leftover fruit puree, it makes a great ice cream topper. Badass, right?

after this, you follow the directions above, using a new batch of fruit. For more subtle flavors like strawberry and peach, you might want to play with the proportions of fruit/tobacco a bit, increasing the amount of fruit to like 30 or 40%.

  6. so i used herb in my recipe and it worked out quite well. the best thing ive found to do is use a juicer, then use some of the juice and pulp along with some tiny pieces.

my favorite mixture was pineapple and a hint cherry.. fresh cherries work best but preserved or ‘cocktail’ cherries work too ( preserved sherries have a fake taste i do not find enjoyable)

if anyone has more ideas e-mail me at speedbump2006@yahoo.com use the subject SHISHA otherwise i probably wont read it.

  7. hey this is a great website! i ve been doing shisha for 2 years now and im still young and dont have much experience (16) but one time i enhanced the flavour of standard apple with ice and lemon juice in the glass bowl but i also wanted to know..how the hell do u clean every bit of the shisha if something goes bad in an experiment u know to take away the shit taste or whatever…keep on with hard work!!!!
    thanks ludo

  8. Hey, I bought a shisha like my friends. The exact same one. But my one doesn’t give out enough smoke as theirs. What might be the reason? Is it the pipe?

  9. So, guessing this will be getting a lot of hit’s with Baracks genius ban on flavored tobaccos, this shit will be like moonshine.

  10. Hey! Just a quick question, is it possible to colour the smoke from the hub if you add food colourants to the water ? is the myth true o.O?

  11. hey,
I jus t bought nakhla shisha molasses n it was dry i added strawberry flavour essence and it tastes fab n creates a smooth smoke!!!

  12. i attempted to make orange shisha last night. for some reason there was no smoke at all. i tried the way it was described here and a little different also but neither created any smoke. i heard it burning though. i do not have any glycerin just rolling tobacco, clementines, honey and molasses. why won’t it work?

  13. you need Glycerine in you mix or the homemade shisha will not be moist enough. it preserves the tabbaco and fruit together. happy smoking!

  14. How do you get glassy/transparent effect in tobacco like AL-FAKHER?

When I make tobacco then after few days/weeks, it turns blackish or dark in color.
